Description
Handmade 18k Gold Green Tourmaline Bezel Set Necklace 1960’s European Vintage
This vintage necklace is a finely crafted artisan piece made of solid 18K gold, featuring eight vivid green round brilliant-cut tourmalines, each approximately 3mm in size. The stones are bezel-set and display excellent brilliance and symmetry, with a fresh, botanical hue that complements the warm gold. The design includes delicate elongated paperclip links and ornate openwork filigree stations with diamond-shaped details. These scrolling filigree elements add elegance and a touch of Old World craftsmanship. A standout feature is its unusual, handmade pressure clasp resembling a protective cage. This clasp uses a spring-loaded tongue mechanism that locks securely and releases with a gentle pinch.
The necklace is not hallmarked but was tested as solid 18K gold using a Niton analyzer. It weighs 1.53 pennyweight (2.38 grams) and measures around 16.5 inches in length. The piece is believed to be handmade in Europe and dates back to the mid-20th century. It was not mass-produced, which adds to its uniqueness and value. The thoughtful design, from the custom clasp to the harmonious layout of stones and filigree, reflects the work of a skilled artisan or small studio jeweler. Its craftsmanship, vintage origin, and artistic details make it a distinctive and collectible piece.
